In September of 1822, Willam Epps Cormack and Joesph Selvester (Selvester Joe) set out on an expedition to cross the then unexplored interior of the Island of Newfoundland. They left from the head of Trinity Bay and for several weeks they made their way through some very difficult wilderness. On 2 November, having spent close to two months crossing the island, Cormack and Sylvester arrived in Flat Bay and two days later crossed over to the European settlement of St. George’s Harbour. This video is a record of the bicentennial commemoration event organized by the Town of George's Brook-Milton on September 5, 2022.
